It is fully portable and runs on rechargeable Nickle Cadmium Batteries or disposable Energizer Alkaline batteries. Informative dvd included with sale! This unit uses the Vivitar model 2600 which is almost the same photo flash unit that bob beck was using to demonstrate the Magnetic Pulser in his lecture video ( vivitar model 1900). This model is a bit stronger than the 1900.This is the only unit on the market that I know of that is portable. NOTICE: The Magnetic Pulser uses a burst pulse of high voltage .
