An oral irrigator is an instrument specificaly designed to produce a high velocity stream of water and air which may be used to clean under bridgework and about dental implants. An oral irrigator is also used to clean out periodontal pockets due to periodontal disease. As a result these pockets become imposible to clean with a toothbrush and very difficult to clean with dental floss. Whilst the irrigator is not a complete replacement for floss it is a great adjunct to use as it is easy to you and can carry antibacterial medicaments to the sites of infection. How Do I use It? As mentioned before the oral irrigator produces a high velocity jet of water which can be controlled by a dial on the oxyjet center.
